Selection Criteria
Shell LiveWIRE is the flagship enterprise development programme of Shell. The programme strengthens local economies across the globe by promoting entrepreneurship and developing entrepreneurs.
Shell LiveWIRE is a global social investment initiative that focuses on training and equipping young people with the necessary entrepreneurial skills to combat the existing high levels of youth unemployment and poverty, particularly in South Africa. Shell LiveWIRE programmes provide young entrepreneurs with access to the essential business knowledge and customised support they need to grow their start-up businesses into profitable and sustainable businesses and entrepreneurs with established businesses to take their business to the next level.
We are looking for entrepreneurs with businesses in the following areas: -

- Event Management
- Real Estate
- Finance & Insurance
- Business consultants Strategy
- Legal litigation services
- Health - employee wellness programme & wellness days
- Health & Safety equipment provider
- Brand & Activations
- Videography & photography
- Branding, printing & logistics
- Litigation Legal services
- Health & Safety
New Energies & Circular economy criteria:
- Recycling – food recycle or reuse/repurpose of waste
- Solar Fuel innovations
- Grids of the future – focusing on electrification, decentralisation and digitalisation
- Artificial Intelligent focusing on machine learning – We seek AI proposals, focused on machine learning, with one or more of the following agent capabilities:
a. Reason – use strategy, solve puzzles, judgments under uncertainty.
b. Represent knowledge
c. Plan
d. Learn drawing models and things learned in other domains to apply to a different domain.
e. Communicate in Natural Language
f. Integrate above skills towards a common goal. - New Routes to Oxygenated Intermediates –To produce oxygenated chemical intermediates from alternative feedstocks, such as natural gas and biomass to reduce CO2 footprint
To be considered for any of the above programmes, you need to meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between 18 to 35 years of age
- Be based in either Gauteng or eMalahleni
- Have a startup business (running for at least 2 years and making monthly revenue of R15 000 or more), OR
- Have an established, high growth business (in business between 3-5 years and with monthly revenue of R50 000 or above)
